Green can be the color of a healthier environment and business success with a Green Living Coach certification from The Spencer Institute. The self-paced online training trains coaches to create greener spaces and situations for clients.

Going green can be as simple as making a couple changes in your daily life and as all-encompassing as a growing number of career paths that incorporate green environmental and healthy living principles. Likewise, a Green Living Coach certification can help people stand out in a crowded job market with a unique subset of skills. To that end, The Spencer Institute now offers an online Green Living Coach certification to help more people become leaders in their field.

According to the Global Market Institute, 42 percent of Americans are willing to spend more for products branded as organic, environmentally friendly or fair trade, and a worldwide survey by the Boston Consulting Group indicated that buying green products remains a priority despite economic woes: about three-quarters of consumers said it was crucial for companies to have good environmental records.

The online, self-paced Green Living Coach program teaches that going green is not just about energy consumption, but also about personal health, healthy homes and the planet.

SMiShing and Vishing: Two Phone Scams to Watch Out For

Written on October 26, 2011 – 10:39 pm | by Brayden Lorenzini

By the AllClear ID team

Hi, Kelly here with AllClear ID. You’ve probably heard of phishing, a scam in which fraudsters send mass emails posing as major institutions requesting personal information. However, you may not be aware of two similar, but lesser known scams which attack victims through the phone.

SMiShing, a hybrid of the word “phishing” and “SMS”, is a scam in which fraudsters ‘fish’ for personal information through SMS text messages. The text message typically claims to be from a bank or financial service and requests an immediate response via phone or the internet.

If the victim visits the URL, they are usually directed to an official looking website which requests personal information such as bank account number, PIN, SSN, or DOB. This information is typically used to recreate debit or credit cards. Another variation directs victims to a website which installs malware onto their computer. If the victim

Is it time to buy major indexes like the Dow Jones Industrials (DIA) and the S&P 500 (SPY) according to the “Halloween Indicator”?

According to the “sell in May and go away” strategy, we’ve just ended the worst six months of the year, and around Halloween will be entering the best six months of the year.

Seasonality tells us that statistically the months from the end of October through the end of April are, in fact, the best months of the year for investing, while the six months from May through October are the worst.

But is there any validity to what’s sometimes known as the Halloween Indicator?

It turns out there is a body of research that supports this theory, and one of the best sources of information on this subject comes from which actually has developed a trading indicator based on this seasonality and the historical returns it has generated.

Let’s take a look at some of findings:

On a historical basis, the research indicates that the market generates better rates of return from November through April than from May through October. And the diffe

Avoid Credit and Debit Card Fraud: Get High-Tech Security on Your Next Card

Vanessa here from AllClear ID.  If you use one of Bank of America’s credit cards, you can feel a little safer: the bank scored the highest in an annual tally of card issuers’ efforts in identity theft protection.

In Javelin Strategy and Research’s seventh annual Card Issuer’s Safety Scorecard, Bank of America scored tops in all three categories — prevention, detection and resolution — to finish its fifth straight year as the best in class.  On a 100-point scorecard, Bank of America earned 87 points. Discover Financial Services was second with 74 points. Next came U.S. Bank with 73 points, USAA with 69, and Capital One with 68.

Phil Blank and Jessica Chu, the Javelin team that created the report, found that card issuers are getting more serious about communicating with customers about identity theft protection. One in four issuers offer two-way actionable alerts to their customers, while nearly three in four offer alerts to mobile devices.
